Cloverfield
Matt Reeves & Drew Goddard
Always down for a giant monster movie. I think the
genre allows for an interesting look into human
response to the unimaginable. Unlike most films,
Cloverfield takes the approach of atomizing the
consequences of such an event in an intensely personal
way. The monster's origins, its motivations, its
biology are given no consideration. It's an
interesting approach that takes on even greater power
when paired with the film's first-person perspective.
I enjoyed it, it reminds me of Tagore's One
Day.
