I mean COME ON. Every character is so richly realized
and fully developed. I'm not sure I agree with the
flak others feel towards this season, I thought the
parallels between the Barksdale organization and the
Greeks were deployed with fantastic effect. I might be
biased because of my affinity to ships, but I felt
that the world of ports and the stevedores' union was
incredibly engrossing. The way Simon handles the twin
encroachments of gentrification and technological
advances on this hallowed subculture is so subtle but
amazingly effective. Everything about the show exudes
authenticity. This is REAL television.
